- INTRODUCTION
1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how ExamsClinic uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on the Platform. It should be read together with our Privacy Notice and Website Terms and Conditions, which are available on the Platform.
1.2 A cookie is a small text file placed on your browser or device when you visit a website. Cookies serve a variety of functions, including enabling a website to function correctly, remembering your preferences, and helping website operators understand how their site is used.
1.3 By continuing to use the Platform after being presented with our cookie consent banner, you accept the use of cookies as set out in this policy, subject to any choices you make in the consent banner in relation to non-essential cookies.
- CATEGORIES OF COOKIES WE USE
2.1 We use four categories of cookies on the Platform, as described below.
2.2 Strictly Necessary Cookies. These cookies are essential for the Platform to function correctly and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are set in response to actions you take, (such as logging into your Account, making a payment, or saving your cookie consent preferences) and do not store any personally identifiable information beyond what is strictly required to deliver the service. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies through our consent tool, although you may be able to disable them via your browser settings (though doing so will impair or prevent your use of the Platform). No consent is required under applicable law for cookies that are strictly necessary.
2.3 Analytics Cookies. These cookies allow us to count visits and understand how users navigate the Platform so that we can measure and improve its performance. For example, they help us identify which question bank topics are most used, how users progress through revision sessions, and where users drop off or encounter difficulties. We use Google Analytics for this purpose. The information collected is aggregated and does not directly identify you. We enable IP anonymisation in our Google Analytics configuration so that your full IP address is never transmitted to or stored by Google. Analytics cookies are optional and require your consent before being set.
2.4 Functionality Cookies. These cookies enable the Platform to remember choices you make and to provide enhanced, personalised features. For example, they may remember your display preferences, the examination you are currently preparing for, or whether you prefer to answer questions in revision mode or timed mode. Functionality cookies do not track your browsing activity on other websites. If you disable functionality cookies, certain personalisation features of the Platform may not work as intended, but your access to core content will not be affected. Functionality cookies require your consent.
2.5 Targeting and Advertising Cookies. We do not currently use targeting or advertising cookies on the Platform and we do not serve third-party advertising. If we introduce any such cookies in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy before doing so and will obtain your consent via the cookie consent tool.

3.2 The cookies listed above are correct as at the date of this policy. We will update this table if we introduce new cookies. We recommend that you revisit this policy periodically. You can also inspect the cookies set on the Platform using your browser’s developer tools.
- THIRD-PARTY COOKIES
4.1 Some cookies on the Platform are set by third-party service providers. These third parties set cookies in accordance with their own privacy and cookie policies, and we do not control the operation of those cookies beyond our contractual arrangements with those providers. The third parties whose cookies are currently active on the Platform are:
(a) Google LLC (Google Analytics): Google sets analytics cookies (_ga, _gid, and _ga_[ID]) to provide us with aggregated usage data. We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, meaning your full IP address is not transmitted to Google. Google may transfer and process this data in the United States. Further information is available in Google’s Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the add-on described in section 5.4.
(b) Stripe, Inc. (payment processing): Stripe sets strictly necessary cookies (including stripe_mid, stripe_sid, and associated fraud-prevention cookies) on checkout pages to enable secure payment processing and fraud detection. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. These cookies are active only on payment-related pages and do not track your general browsing. Further information is available in Stripe’s Privacy Policy at https://stripe.com/en-gb/privacy.
4.2 We do not permit third-party advertising networks or social media platforms to set cookies on the Platform. If this changes, we will update this policy and obtain your consent before any such cookies are set.
- MANAGING YOUR COOKIE PREFERENCES
5.1. Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit the Platform, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner. Strictly necessary cookies will be set automatically. You may accept or decline analytics and functionality cookies by making a selection in the banner. Your preferences are saved in your browser for 12 months. You can review and change your preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the footer of the Platform.
Your consent to non-essential cookies is specific, informed, and freely given — we do not make access to the Platform conditional on accepting non-essential cookies. Where you do not make a selection, only strictly necessary cookies will be set until you provide a positive indication of your preference.
5.2. Changing Your Preferences
You can withdraw or update your cookie consent at any time by accessing the cookie settings tool in the Platform footer or by clearing your cookie_consent cookie in your browser and revisiting the Platform. Withdrawing consent for analytics or functionality cookies will not affect any processing that took place while consent was in force.
5.3. Browser Controls
You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings. The following links provide guidance on managing cookies in the most commonly used browsers:

Please note that disabling all cookies — including strictly necessary cookies — will prevent you from logging in to your Account and using core Platform functionality.
- Opting Out of Google Analytics
You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information with Google Analytics about your activity. This opt-out is browser-specific and must be applied on each browser you use.
- Mobile Application
If ExamsClinic offers a mobile application in the future, the app may use mobile identifiers or similar tracking technologies in addition to or instead of browser cookies. If an app is launched, a separate or updated cookie and tracking policy will be provided to reflect the technologies used on that platform.
- Further Information About Cookies
You can find further information about cookies, including how to view what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, at www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.
- COOKIE EXPIRY
6.1 Cookies may be either “session cookies” or “persistent cookies”. Session cookies are temporary and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or until you delete them through your browser settings.
6.2 The expiry period for each cookie we use is set out in the table in section 3 above. Expiry periods may be updated from time to time where we change the cookies we use.
- CHANGES TO THIS COOKIE POLICY
7.1 We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or changes in applicable law. We will post the updated Cookie Policy on the Platform with a revised “Last Updated” date. Where changes are material, we will notify you via a notice on the Platform.
7.2 We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies.
